Cafetano is the joint effort of a three generation family that owns and operates a coffee farm and several boutique coffee shops in Honduras. In fall of 2021 they opened a new location in Pittsburgh, PA. The designs for this mural project reflect the famous symbols, bold colors & patterns, animals, and people that are strong representations of the Honduran culture. Mural 1 depicts the famous Central American Democratic leader, Francisco Morazan, entertwined with imagery and language notable to Honduras. Mural 2 depicts a ficticious coffee goddess among coffee plants, and flowers, with the famous Honduran Mayan ruins in the background. Honduras’ national bird, the Scarlet Macaw, is represented in the 3rd mural, and sits atop a perch that portrays the Cafetano Logo.
